You do not need six days a week to get strong and fit. If your schedule is packed, a smart full body routine done two or three times a week can deliver excellent results. The key is choosing exercises that give you the most return for your time.
Why full body works when time is tight
A full body session trains every major muscle group in one visit. Because you cover everything each time, missing a day here or there does far less damage than it would on a split.
Two full body sessions still hit every muscle twice a week, which is plenty to build strength and muscle for most people.
Lean on compound movements
Compound exercises train several muscles at once, which is exactly what you want when minutes are precious. A handful of them covers your whole body.
- A squat pattern for your legs
- A hinge pattern such as a deadlift for your back and hamstrings
- A press for your chest and shoulders
- A row or pulldown for your back
- A carry or plank for your core
A sample thirty minute session
Pick one exercise from each pattern above and perform three working sets of each. Rest enough to stay strong and keep moving between exercises. In about half an hour you will have trained your entire body.
Log each set in W8M8 so next time you know exactly what to beat.
Consistency beats perfection
The best routine is the one you can keep. A short full body plan you actually follow will always outperform an ambitious six day plan you abandon after two weeks.
Show up, do the compounds, log your sets, and let the weeks add up.
